"I personally cannot comprehend how one can live in this world, yet not understand how it works - from how landforms are formed to how people interact with the environment. That was what sparked my interest in Geography, and how it became my favourite subject. I believe the study of Geography has cultivated not only a critical and precise school of thought, but has made me more able to sympathize with fellow human beings, and aspire to help them in their various plights. It also developed in me a greater sense of responsibility towards the Earth, in which I hope to inspire others to be better stewards of.
I think that Geography is the conscience that all must have, to live in this world that is not ours."

"Born in Wenzhou where one of the world's most difficult Chinese dialect is found, I however only speak Singlish fluently. In my four years on 1° N , I did outdoor sketches from Orchard Road to Kusu Island, yet still getting lost most of the time. Here, I have converted to a chili eater, though still stretching myself by adding one more chili padi in my soup every day. Twice a year, I teach at a rural school in Hainan where kids chant Core Values of Communism perfectly.
I do not just love Geography; Geography is in me."

"I was lucky enough to be born to my parents who believe that I would learn the most on the road: They went to the extent of allowing me to miss school exams to go on vacations and roadtrips. Those adventures were always magical: I loved sitting on a cliff watching the endless waves lapping at the white sandy shores and listening to stories of coal mine workers who were my age. As I grew older, I realize I could take an in-depth look into those magics through Geography. Travelling incites and nurtures my love for Geography by showing me the vast, complex world we inhabit; and in turn Geography allows me to explore the intricate relationship and interaction between the human society and its environment.
To me, Geography is the thread that runs through and pieces together our understanding of the world."
